An american brunch

 

 El otro día se cumplió uno de esos pequeños deseos que te hacen gran ilusión: me invitaron a tomar el brunch en casa de un amigo en NY.

Some days ago I accomplished a small desire that makes you happy: I was invited to have brunch at a NY friend's house.

  

La verdad es que el brunch me parece una combinación de comida/momento glamuroso, pero nunca lo había podido adaptar a mi ritmo de vida, porque ¿qué haces si no eres de las que te levantas, digamos, tarde?, ¿no desayunas y te esperas a comer algo sobre las 12:00-13:00?, qué hambre, ¿no?

Así que cuando recibí la invitación, por mail, a tomar el brunch, nada más y nada menos que en un apartamento neoyorquino, pensé que por fin había llegado el momento.

Y desde luego no quedé defraudada.

The truth is that I feel the brunch like a combination of food and glamorous time, but I had never been able to adapt it to my lifestyle, because, what are you supposed to do if you are not the kind of person who gets up late?, you don't have breakfast and wait until 12: 00-13: 00 to eat something? hungry, don't you?

So when I received the invitation, by mail, to have brunch, nothing but in a New York apartment, I thought time was come.

And I was not disappointed at all.

 Para empezar, la presentación, inmaculada: un gran mantel estampado y sus servilletas a juego de color azul marino, made in Williams Sonoma, una buena tienda americana de artículos de cocina (allí compré delantales, espátulas, y gadgets varios).

Y la comida, excepcional: ensalada de sandía con queso (creo que era fetta); distintos tipos de bagels (son como unos panecillos un poco más densos), que podías rellenar con diferentes tipos de cream cheese y salmón; variedad de quesos con sus correspondientes crackers; muffins, pain au chocolat de chocolate, pudding casero de manzana y melocotón, y macedonia de fruta. Para beber, me sirvieron un mimosa (champagne & zumo naranja).

Luego un café, y listo.

To start with, the table was immaculate: a patterned navy blue large tablecloth and matching napkins navy blue, made in Williams Sonoma, a good American kitchen goods shop (there I bought aprons, spatulas, and several gadgets).

And the food, exceptional: watermelon salad with cheese (fetta, I think) mozzarella; different types of bagels (they are like a little denser rolls), that you could fill with different types of cream cheese and salmon; variety of cheeses with their crackers; muffins, pain au chocolat, homemade apple and peach pudding, and fruit salad. To drink, I was served a mimosa (champagne & orange juice).

Coffee and that's it.
